How about cutting boards shaped like a pig or fish, how nice! They are made from a solid pieces of 1" thick live oak. Live oak is found mainly in the Southern States. It's rated as one of the hardest woods of North America. It has a Janka hardness rating of 2,680 lbf compared to white oak's rating of 1,360 lbf.  Both have rubber feet on the bottom to keep them from sliding and well above and liquid that be under it. These cutting boards are also a great size to be a serving platter, for charcuterie spreads, fileting meats or fish. The edges rounded over. Grab this one fast!

My name is John, and of course that’s were J comes from. My wife’s name is Brenda and that’s what the B stands for. I only use hardwoods, so that's were the Hardwoods comes from. The hardwoods are primarily found in Florida.

Here at J. B. Hardwoods every item goes through the same meticulous process to achieve a finished product that will add beauty to any home. With proper care, you and your loved ones will be able to enjoy for many years to come.

Seeing that we reside in Florida, live oaks trees are abundant and so are hurricanes. Occasionally, I come across fallen oak trees. Helping with the cleanup lands me several of the large trunks.  I haul them off to the sawmill to be cut into slices of varying thickness. The greater the thickness the longer it takes to dry, some can take upwards of 2 years to dry. Once boards are dry, they are ready to be planed at my work shop just outside of Tampa, FL.  After planning to the desired thickness the animal design is cutout. The pig board is sanded to ensure only the smoothest finished product possible! After all sanding has taken place, I then soak them in food grade mineral oil overnight and rub in natural bees wax for a great natural finish that will last.

Care and Maintenance: Never allow to soak in water! Clean with a damp cloth and wipe dry. Wipe with a food grade butcher block conditioner or mineral oil to keep the finish looking new and to get the most life out of your purchase!

NOTE: You are purchasing the actual piece pictured in each listing (unless otherwise noted).

All pieces will be individually wrapped in bubble wrap.

Best,

John
